Pain Medication

Pills

The topic of today is pain medication. A lot of people have the wrong idea about it. I swore to myself that when someone asked about pain meds, I was going to educate people about the risks of pain medications and alternate ways to get rid of pain.

Let’s talk about some of the research for a moment. Research doesn’t lie. There is a huge rise in opioid addiction and the number of prescriptions for pain meds given out to people. At the same time, the number of people complaining about chronic pain has skyrocketed, which suggests the pain meds we are prescribing are not working for chronic pain.

It’s important to remember that curing pain is not always about pain meds. It’s not always about the simple fix. If you’re looking for a long-term solution you’re going to have to get in there and attack the root cause.

There are other ways we can go about decreasing pain. For example, meditation, breathing control, yoga, and movement. Learn to meditate here. One of our biggest tagline is ‘movement is medicine’. Just moving around will actually help you with some of your pain. There are also lots of different alternative ways to treat pain, including a wide spectrum of organic means for medicine, whether it be supplements, herbs, essential oils, cannabidiol (CBD), dietary modifications/additions, etc.
I would strongly recommend proceeding with caution when taking some of those high-level narcotic or opioids, just because of the risk of addiction. Especially when you consider that at the end of the day, they don’t really help the issue at hand. They cure the symptom, but they’re not getting to the root cause of your disease or the problem causing your pain. You need to find the root cause before jumping to pain meds by seeing your local physical therapist or doing some research online. There are always reasons why you’re having the pain. Most of the time you can adjust things, and some of those symptoms will go away. It’s important to stay positive with pain, and not get dragged down into the idea that meds are the only option. Your body is trying to tell you something!

We can answer a lot of your questions in person. All we want is for everybody to be pain-free. It’s a sad thing when we’re taking all these drugs and hurting our bodies and it’s actually not even curing the issue at hand.
